R-15 Character Song Albums

The song doesn't have anything explicit, but it uses a lot of euphemisms.


R-15, the show that proved sex sells, but was also a character study on the nature of genius, living up to expectations, and being comfortable with your own talents. However, I'm here to provide you character songs. I don't need to say who's singing on each album - the characters do a fine enough job of that.

Each album includes either the OP or ED, both in TV size and sung by the quartet on the album, the eyecatch music, four character songs, plus those four songs in instrumental and karaoke versions.

Utae's song was actually used in the show, as her hit single. All the rest weren't, but still fit their characters' selves very well. Note that, except for Taketo and Tsukuru, this is the first time singing solo for these voice actresses. Best of luck to them in the future.

Softenni Character Song + Drama Album

The Legend of Shiratama Middle School Unabridged

Okay, so Yayoi technically joined after the field trip arc. But this is a Drama CD, its relation to Softenni canon is a little nebulous. What I'm here for, though, is the character songs. They're lively, they're energetic, they're more than a little ridiculous. And every major character gets one, even Yayoi/Uzuki, even though she joined the club a little late in the show's run.

State of the Character Songs Summer 2011

There's a lot of ground to cover. We're roughly a month into the new season, so let's get this started.


RO-KYU-BU!
Each of the five girls has a character single on the way, featuring an original song and a solo version of the OP.

Kamimemo
Two character songs have been announced, more might possibly follow.

Uta no Prince Sama
It's a show about music, it would be weirder if it didn't. But, yes, it does. Looks like the main characters all get a single.

Sacred Seven
An album for the maids has already released, with two CDs, each containing two songs apiece, on the way, covering other characters. The first CD has Alma and Ruri. There might be more, but not much is listed yet.

Nuraihyon
Yes, more are on the way.

Croisee
A drama/character song CD has already been announced, so it'll have one song at least.

Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel
Not likely at this point, though the franchise already has a fair amount of music built up over the years.

Yuru-Yuri
Yes! All eight main characters, in the Amusement Club and the Student Council, plus Mirakurun, are getting their own character singles. Notably, the Amusement Club's work in their leitmotifs you hear during the eycatches.

Kamisama Dolls
A drama/character CD or two has been announced for this show as well. Really, there are very few shows that don't have one this season.

The iDOLM@STER
This one's tricky. Technically, the iM@S franchise already has several gigabytes worth of songs released, that are being used in the show. As it turns out, those songs will be compiled onto albums released throughout the year, making it much easier on people who started with the anime. They're still not exactly "new" songs though.

Mayo Chiki!
A character song album is on the way, covering the major characters. (The female ones, at least.) Standard form here.

BakaTest Ni!
A single for Hideyoshi, two character singles that revolve more around concepts than characters, and an "Akihisa Harem CD" are all on the way, as well as whatever milktub's doing. None of them is a standard character song album like the first season, but the show has no shortage of music.

Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagi
Two albums with three songs apiece, collectively covering pretty much all the major characters.

Nekogami Yaoyorozu
Three albums with two songs apiece (though the final volume is for three characters), covering nearly everybody as well.

R-15
Two albums (team MAJIYABA and team HIRAMEKI), each with songs from four characters. This includes the protagonist and his best friend, a rarity for shows of its genre. Also, Ran is on the first CD. Make of that what you will.

Manyuu Hikenchou
Not likely to get character songs at this point, though I wouldn't rule out the possibility entirely.

Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian
Also unlikely, just from the tone of the show.

Odds and Ends
Nichijou has character songs announced for Sasahara and Misato, one for the Last Five People, and a "Mai Pace" CD. Strike Witches 2 continues to have its character songs delayed, but they're on the way. Denpa Onna's included with the DVD character songs were pushed back. Milky Holmes has a third album for sale.

STEINS;GATE Audio Series Laboratory Member 001~008

"I hate time travel logic."


5pb. and Nitro+, I owe them quite a lot. Their blending of visual novel archetypes and science/paranormal mysteries has had a small but noticeable influence on my taste, and I have no doubt it's affected the rest of you. Steins;Gate will be getting an anime soon, but unlike Chaos;Head, this time the character songs are released before the anime. All eight are here, featuring voice actors new and old, including both the songs and the CD-Extra goodies, like wallpapers and such. Scans for all are included, because we here at Celonius28 (now) value having the complete package, which includes the package.

Shin Koihime Musou Character Vocal Album

A tale of battle and friendship, told in song.

Ah, we return once more to Koihime. There's very little from this show I haven't released at this point. And where there's character songs, there's me. Ten songs are on here, and while not the whole cast gets to sing (there's far too many for one album), a good selection of characters appears. Who sings was posted in the Twitter feed some time ago. Amagami Character Songs 7-8

With exactly a week until Amagami SS, the releases finish.
Celonius28 apologizes for the delay. CDs from TwoFive are a little more difficult to obtain than those from other companies, but, six months later, Haruka and Hibiki have been split into their own individual releases, making their monologues available, and their songs available too. Unless something is suddenly announced, I think this closes off this line of releases. The Soen CD trio will not be receiving solo releases, because they are minor characters.

Though this set of Amagami releases has finished, a new series is about to begin. The ED/character songs for the TV series. Enjoy!

B Gata H Kei Character Song Album

Yamada wants to sing 100 duets.

Finally, a new release, though I should have a few more surprises in the coming weeks. The B Gata H Kei character song album is, structurally, rather similar to Toradora's, in that it has individual songs for most major characters (and some minor ones), as well as a group song for the show's three leading ladies. Not everyone gets a tune (the erogami, Misato and Katase, etc.), but it's a nice album overall. Very high energy.

Hanamaru Kindergarten Best Album - childhood memories

Actually the second Alice in Wonderland themed cover on this site.

Take what I said about scans, and magnify it. Plus, Hanamaru has some great songs among its number, covering a wide variety of genres and themes. Including magical girl, horror show and Charlie Brown + black and white movie. The OST is also included, because it was the second disc. Starchild does have a tendency to do that with its releases. All songs and all scans are here, and there's a lot of them. Over an hour of music on the first disc alone.

Were it not for character songs, I would not have started this blog. Were it not for character songs, I would not have obtained this CD. Kana Asumi, as Marin, sings a song by the name of her catchphrase. Two songs by marble and a song by Masumi Itou are also present. State of the Character Songs Winter 2010

We're into a new year, a new decade, and a new batch of anime. There are still a few holdovers from 2009 on the airwaves, but the spring is the season to clean. With simulcasting gaining increasing prominence and shows darting every which way, where do people turn for advice on character songs? To the Celonius28's Song Images Quarterly State of the Character Songs, beginning with its first installment in 2010. Read onward, fellow enthusiasts.


Chu-Bra!!
A set of four character singles has already been confirmed for the four main girls. Nayu (Minori Chihara), Haruka (Sayuri Yahagi), Yako (Minako Kotobuki) and Kiyono (Yoko Hikasa). A good day starts with good underwear and good music. I'm expecting at least one of these to be a comedic patter song. Possibly Nayu.

So Ra no Wo To
Wo To's two "parents", so to speak, in K-ON! and Strike Witches both had character songs, and this one will as well. Rather than a straight up album release, these will be across the DVDs. Kanata is first, and the rest are likely to follow.

Ladies versus Butlers!
One character song/drama mini album has already been confirmed, covering Sernia and Tomomi. Sanae and Kaoru are likely to be on the next one, and there may be more beyond that. It'll definitely have character songs, that much I'm sure of. Unlike the show previews, these will not be played at the same time. I wouldn't reccommend that. Does something awful on the ears.

Omamori Himari
A character song album has been confirmed. The show's already determined who the main haremettes are (the group that sings "BEAM my BEAM"), and this'll give them a chance to sing solo. Koshimizu, Iori Nomizu and Yuki Matsuoka are among the voices on here. Press information is saying that solo versions of "BEAM my BEAM" will be a major selling point for this.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu
A character song album has already been confirmed, covering F Class. This wouldn't be the only show Hitomi Harada is singing in this season, and it's very likely to feature the trap that's captured the hearts of confused fans, Hideyoshi. It is under Lantis, and they have a pretty good track record with these things.

Dance in the Vampire Bund
It's under Shaft and has FlyingDog as a label. The chances of the show to have character songs is low, but there's always a margin of error factored into these things.

Hidamari Sketch x Hoshimittsu
While I'm not ruling out the possibility of a CD release, current trends point to the character songs being included on the DVDs, similar to Wo To. As the series is likely to have six DVDs, and there are six tenants at the Hidamari Apartments, everything works out nicely.

Ookamikakushi
It's a small franchise, and under FlyingDog. The possibility certainly exists, but I rule it unlikely. We'll see what happens.

Seikon no Qwaser
Similar to Baka Test, songs have already been confirmed in the form of a mini album. There are several pairs that one can look at in this show, depending on what you've seen. You have Toyosaki and Fujimura (Blacksmith), Toyosaki and Hikasa (K-On!) and Hirano and Chihara (Suzumiya). The best music, fresh from the source. It's well documented what the source is.

Hanamaru Kindergarten
It's been confirmed via the show's blog that Tsuchida, at least, is getting a character song. It's also under the Starchild label, so the chances are pretty likely. No character songs will happen, but the show will have its massive collection of ED songs, which will likely include solos by the main trio, as well as Tsuchi and Yamamoto.

Past Seasons Updates

In the time since my last update, two Archives for Toaru Kagaku no Railgun have been confirmed. Given that Index had four, I'm expecting an equal number for its spinoff. The first two cover Mikoto/Kuroko and Uiharu/Saten. Other candidates for singing include Kiyama-sensei, Mii and maybe Mitsuko.

Sora no Otoshimono has also had a proper character song album announced. The main grouping of characters (Tomoki, Mikako, Sugata, Sohara, Ikaros and Nymph) are all going to sing. Even Tomoko. This is Columbia, and they have a pretty good track record when it comes to music. Both in providing it and the songs themselves.

Amagami Character Songs - Comiket 77 Specials

A Happy New Year and a happy haul from Comiket.

Just as it happened before with Miya and Sae, so shall it happen again. Haruka and Hibiki on one CD, and a collection of minor characters, including the Bromantic Foil, on the other. There is a song here called "Doggie Disco Fever". Disco may be dead, but that doesn't mean it can't be undead. As it's January 1st, a very happy 2010 to all my readers. Once the season gets underway, I'll begin preparing my quarterly State of the Character Songs. Plenty of shows seem to be in ship shape this season. Enjoy.

Amagami Character Song Vol. 6

The troublemaker has arrived.

It's Black Friday, and I'm releasing a character song titled Thanksgiving. Quite appropriate. TwoFive knew what they were doing with corporate synergy when this came to be. There won't be any Amagami releases in December, but I would recommend using Nogizaka Purezza's first A la carte CD's songs for holiday music. Deck the halls to the sounds of N's and...well, maybe not just yet. But December 1st is around the corner.

Amagami Character Song Vol. 5

Five down, two to go.

Not a whole lot to say here, other than I'm glad I chose this series to release. A nice selection of VAs, and according to TwoFive's site, the last two (Kaoru and Haruka) will be releasing in November and January, respectively. I'm not sure what I'll do next, but maybe there will be a few things in the upcoming season. I should be making my next State of the Character Songs soon. That said, enjoy. Yukana performs.

Amagami Character Song Vol. 3-4

Wait, what?

I know what you're thinking, dear reader. "Haven't you already released these?" Well, mysterious hypothetical voice of the audience, of course I have. You can see them one post below this one. The difference is that while the last release was a compilation Comiket Special, these are separate and nearly the same, except for the presence of the monologues. Also, they might look a little cleaner when organizing them in your music player. So, Sae and Miya, once more.

Amagami Character Song Vol. 3+4

One last gift from Comiket 76.

Vol. 3+4 were a joint release at this year's Comiket, featuring Sae Nakata, one of the main choices in the game, and Miya, [Insert Player Character Name Here]'s kid sister. Hiromi Konno and Kana Asumi (Marin, Yuno, Ran et al.) do the singing. The Amagami series of CDs is going to keep releasing into early 2010, and I'll catch and release all of them in as timely a manner as possible.

Amagami Character Songs Vol. 1-2

The successor to Kimikiss starts off its own group of character songs.

"Amagami", when not spelled in katakana, means "play-biting". As in "kapucchu~" or what happens when your girlfriend's love is a stapler. Though that's probably not for the faint of heart or those who don't have especially tough skin. It could make for some interesting foreplay, I'd imagine.

"Amagami", when spelled in katakana, is the successor to Kimikiss. Will it be getting an anime someday? I don't know. But it does have character songs, and that's what the narrow focus of this blog is about. So, on with the show!

Kamen no Maid Guy Character Song 4 - Liz v2

Now with scans.

For something I marked as a "milestone release" a long, long time ago, it's getting a v2. My reasons for this are this v2 has scans. Scans are a pretty important thing when it comes to music. They provide lyrics, nice cover art, and allow the lyric and music databases that I frequent to be up to date. And since I appeared to be the only one releasing the Maid Guy character songs to begin with, this could be taken at my own pace. It was on my mind for months. Now, onto the music itself. (Again.) ArielWave releases another, and so in turn do I.

To think that soon I'd have been running this thing for a year, slowly getting better and releasing more and more things along the way. For differing reasons, from differing sources, but always with the goal of supporting the obscure.
