Chaos;Head Trigger 1-2

Minami-ke Okaeri Character Image Mini Album "Haru Natsu Aki Toujou!!"

Merry Christmas from the Minami sisters!

Another mini album released. Besides the previously-mentioned Christmas songs, one new character song for each of the sisters is here. They're titled in such a way to call obvious attention to the seasonal theme naming that is present in the family. A nice little album to have, and it's nice to be posting it right after MA chu RI's Christmas single a few days ago. Though I'm expecting the next few things I release to not be so Christmasy.

Macademi Wasshoi! Insert Song Series 4-5

On Dasher, on Dancer, on Prancer and Vixen! On Comet, on Cupid! On Donner and Blitzen!

As of this writing, it's December 12th. Halfway to Christmas Eve, 13 days left until Christmas. Many series continue on, but a few are ringing in the season. Macademi celebrates with a number by MA chu RI. The second song that's being offered is a trio by Ataro, Stein and Agaliarept. The season's greatest and most powerful trio of nerds sing - and it's a catchy song too. I'd imagine a Christmas with these six would involve things blowing up, manga and enough eggnog to serve New York City.

Soul Link The Animation Mission 01-04

Die Hard on a space station!

These four have been on hold for awhile, and I think it's time they, too, were released. Four character song singles from Soul Link, with two characters apiece and a short drama in four parts across them. Most of the cast comes from the original game with one or two exceptions. Yoshino Nanjou, who sings on the first album, went on to play Koko in Da Capo II and Nene in Penguin Musume Heart this past year. So without further ado, on with the show.

Macademi Wasshoi! Insert Song Series 1-3

Now this is an awesome album cover.

And the first of three that will be released today. The other two will be covered later in the post. Macademi's character song series is, by all means, unusual. Three of the five albums are for male characters, one is a Christmas album, but all of them are in tune with the series' wackiness. First up, featured in episode six, is Metallis' confession of love to Suzuka in the form of rock.

Koihime Musou Original Soundtrack

Another major soundtrack released.

29 tracks in total. Three of them are short versions of the OP, ED and "Shouri no Sanka", the character song previously released by this very group. The other 26 are BGM. The Legend of Geno Killer continues to this day. Let me tell you a story...

I was quite looking forward to Karen's, actually. She may be new to the PS2 version and your typical ojou-sama character, but she's bombastic enough that she ends up being lovable. Mitsuki's in this set of releases as well, with Rie Tanaka lending her voice. The end of November has been quite the busy time this year, and Black Friday isn't even here yet.

Shina Dark Vocal Album

An all-star cast, some lovely music and all this for a series of music videos.

I was hoping I'd get a chance to get this one out there. The Shina Dark music clips released some time ago were nice, and contained in here is the full versions of every single one of those songs. A marvelous voice cast is on this one - Haruka Tomatsu, Kaori Nazuka, Daisuke Ono, Ayako Kawasumi, Kana Hanazawa etc. "Moon Legend", the first song on here, was released a few months ago on Yuuki Aira's "REFLECTION" album, but without the other songs to complement it, it just feels incomplete. Incomplete no more.

So as Thanksgiving draws near, Celonius28 says: "Get ready for the Christmas season!" And enjoy.

Kamen no Maid Guy Character Song 4 - Liz

Strawberryfield Forever!

This music release is a special one. Kamen no Maid Guy's first character song single was the very first Celonius28 release, and now the series of Maid Guy CDs comes to a close. Several months and several releases have passed since then, and we've finally marked our own territory in a competitive game, which is something to be proud of. From here on out, there will be plenty more releases, more news and some especially rare goodies. Then what is there but 2009? Hundreds of new series, which means new music for an enterprising individual. I'm glad I was able to come this far.

Now, as for the content. Liz has her song of course, with the second song being sung by...the fish store owner. I was expecting a duet by Tsurara and Shizuku myself, but the whole "meido duo" thing was already covered by Kogarashi and Fubuki (and Nanami and Hazuki). It wouldn't be Maid Guy without something odd thrown in. In with a bang, out with an accordion.

Maid Guy's service will never end, and neither will Celonius28's!

Bamboo Blade Drama CDs

Because we can't leave Pink/Black and Green out now.

Bamboo Blade really had a lot. Kendo, moe, Blade Braver, Saya and Kirino's heavy romantic two girl friendship (Saya's, at least) and the buttocks that can leave a Nintendo DS broken. Across the OSTs, Tama, Kirino and Sayako's character songs appeared, but the last two contain the songs for Miya-Miya (Aka Ban) and Satori (Shiro Ban). Plus dramas, of course, to add just a little bit more onto the story.

The path to this blog is paved with happenstance, curiosity and gravel. As I've stated once or twice before, 5pb. Records has a really good record when it comes to releasing character songs for their properties. I discovered 11eyes while randomly clicking around the site, and a month or two later I'm providing its character songs. State of the Character Songs Fall 2008

Hello, readership!

Once again, we're a month into the current season, and it's time for the State of the Character Songs. I've come a long way since I started this group - it was and still is a one-man operation, but the sheer amount of stuff I've gotten done since then...mostly in several gigabytes worth of music, and it shows. Now, on with what this post is for - a look at shows from the current season and how likely they are to get character songs.


Rosario to Vampire Capu2: Seven character CDs confirmed, four of which are being released very soon. The layout of the songs is all but identical to season one, except for the addition of Kokoa to the lineup and Naze Koumori getting a song on the single for The Kapuchuus. One cover song and one original song per single. Kapuchuu~

Toradora: JC Staff + Rie Kugimiya + Starchild handling the music = extremely likely. The guessability rate is somewhere around 80%. Past patterns are usually a good indicator of the present and the future, though if there's no news for me to go on, I'm limited to guesswork.

Hyakko: Alright, the elements this time are Lantis + Aya Hirano + schoolyard comedy. Estimate comes to...75%. Shows of its type are usually ripe for character songs, going by the record.

Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka and ef - a tale of melodies: These two are grouped together because they're covering their characters in much the same way. Each of the main cast members gets an ED theme which functions much the same as a character song. Also, there's the whole "adapted from a visual novel" thing.

Yozakura Quartet: I'm leaning towards a 45% guesstimate ratio on this one, but I was proven wrong with Oinari-sama before. Of course, anything can happen - that's where the fun of guessing lies. So that I can look back and say if I was right or way off course.

Kannagi: Guesstimate ratio at 85%. The voice cast is strong in this one, including Miyuki Sawashiro and the Tomatsu/Hanazawa duo. Even if nothing further comes of it, we'll always have Nagi's dancing on the stage.

Kemeko Deluxe: There will be character songs, this has already been confirmed. However, they're once again included only with the limited edition DVDs. The official website shall update with the news in time.

Toaru Majutsu no Index: Two character song and drama CDs have been confirmed, and there may be more. At the very least, songs for sparky and Index are expected.

Macademi Wasshoi!: Five character song albums, culminating in a Christmas release by the Miyazaki/Ise/Fukui trio that is MA*chu*RI. 5pb. Records has a really good track record when it comes to character songs. And speaking of 5pb. releases...

Chaos;Head: Recently, for the Xbox 360 version of the PC game (titled Chaos;Head Noah), a set of "triggers" (aka character song singles) have appeared. The voice cast for these carries over from the anime, so they match up well enough to count.

Girl love, polearms and genderflips. What's not to love?

A very nice release today. A short drama is included on here, along with the duet "Shouri no Sanka", or "Anthem of Victory". The leading ladies of the show are the stars here, so it makes sense they'd be chosen out of such a large cast. A very recent release, and a good one to have. The next few days are sure to have plenty more music, though I only plan to provide one of the new releases. The other big groups will handle the main course, as always.

Ad hoc groups will always be around as far as anime is concerned - N's, MA*chu*RI, Aice5, and so on. Today we cover the GothLoli trio. You may know them better as the current voices of Sakura "Penguin" Nankyoku, Nia Teppelin, and several characters who are likely to induce lesbianism. Yu Kobayashi characters are usually good at that kind of thing.

Nogizaka Mika's Mai Fair Radio Special CD

Comiket 74 special.


Our horizons continue to expand beyond "rare character songs" and into "rare CDs in general", but this one is two different kinds of unexplored territory - a Comiket 74 CD and a Radio CD. The theme song to the radio show hosted (and still ongoing) by Mai Goto, voice of Mika Nogizaka, is contained within, along with a special radio show. The title was translated as best as possible to convey the pun.

Nogizaka Haruka's music isn't done yet. Two drama CDs, each with a song by the group N's created for the series, are scheduled for the next two months. If they're overlooked, you can count on Celonius28 to look right at them. Onward!

G3 Princesses + Ii Jan! Ii Jan! Sugee Jan!?

G3 Princesses, on stage!

The first entry up is the G3 Princesses. Performed in GP31, this album includes individual songs for each of the girls, G3 Princess Rap, and the one-episode special end theme "Enjin Eco Rap". The song is a Green Aesop in musical form, but for one gathering all of Go-on's ED themes (and there are many), it's a good part of the collection. Once again, the first and seventh tracks (Go-on's OP and ED) are not included due to Columbia putting them on every album, thus making their reencoding here redundant and unneeded.

Before the Strike Witches Ending Collection is released, a momentary return to last year's skintight outfit wearing girls blasting things.

Also, these albums are very good to have because a great majority of the songs on both of them can't be found anywhere else. If there's one way to get someone to pay attention to a musical release, it's to put something on one CD and one CD only. Finally, Celonius28 is glad to have a Saori Goto song or two among our lineup of releases - as well as a second German loli. If this becomes a habit, then we shall see.

Wagaya no Oinari-sama Tenkogeijyutsu Kakyoku Shu

No scans, but the music is as clear as ever. And there's plenty of Kou-chan.

I was waiting to see if this one should be released, and so it was. Character songs for Mubyou, Miyabe, Kuu (male form), plus the full version of "Shiawase no Kotodama" make up this mini-album. It's a fun song to dance to. Several talk tracks are placed between, but the music, which includes the OP and ED for good measure, is the real focus here. As always, Celonius28 is glad to provide and wishes you a good anime season.

Kyouran Kazoku Nikki Character Song Album Cancelled

The Lantis website has deemed it official. After a pushback from August to September to October to cancelled, the Kyouran Kazoku Nikki character song album, which was supposed to feature songs for every non-Midarezaki cast member, has been cancelled for reasons unknown. Perhaps, like the Kimiaru album, it'll resurface one day, or it'll just be something lost to the aether.

But the show must go on - a new season is beginning, and new music will come with it.

"Tanpopo Suisha" (Ep 13 ED) is on here. That's what drew us in.

This is sort of a surprise release, in that even I wasn't planning on it until a few hours ago. But stumbling into greatness is what got Celonius28 started to begin with, so winging it will do. Five short drama stories revolving around the cultural festival, starring Sora and friends, and concluding with the lead trio singing the full version of "Tanpopo Suisha". The final component in any Sketchbook CD collection. And yes, that Kana Hanazawa sings on it may also be partially why.

Kamen no Maid Guy Character Song 3 Fubuki

Mushi-Uta bug 01-03

Rosario to Vampire Capu2: Fall 2008 Pre-Report and Spring/Summer Post-Report

That I'm able to do a character song report before the show technically debuts is an odd thing in itself. This'll be kept in mind for the next State of The, but where there's news, it'll be reported!

At the end of October, the first four (I assume there shall be more. Mizore shan't be shafted) character singles for Capu2 will be released. As with the last time around, the singles have a song written for the girls, plus a cover of an 80's song. Not quite sure what the 80's have to do with Rosario, but then again, I don't really know what disco does either.

The covers are as flashy and fanservicey as ever, but that's Rosario. With such a deluge of new shows set to hit the airwaves, you can be assured that Celonius28 will provide the unprovided and report which ones get songs at all.

A Koihime Musou character song single for Kannu and Chouhi was recently announced. And Misaki's not on the Oinari-sama album, while it appears my instincts were off about the Strike Witches one. That's actually a complete ending theme collection, not character songs. Still a good bit of music to have, though.
